Layout for summary writing
There are (rephrase the question e.g. multiple advice given to students about their behaviour ) For example, (point 1). In addition, (Point 2). Moreover, (Point 3) (Rephase 2nd part of the question e.g. there are also some advice given to students when they get there) such as (point 4). Another point is that (point 5). and finally (point 6).
Checklist
- Do not put in an intro and conclusion
- Only use information given from the text DO NOT USE YOUR OWN FACTS/OPINIONS
- Use your own words as much as possible!
- Connect your points with linking words
- Don’t repeat similar points
- At least 6 points
- Don’t go over the word limit

How do we count the linking words? Let’ s say, In addition…. ( this linking word is counted as 2 words or 1 word). Please explain
2 words, in and addition. In the real exam, don’t waste time by counting the words, just estimate by multiplying your number of words per line by the number of lines you have written. The examiner probably isn’t going count every single word.
